Paper Football Multiplication

We have been polishing out multi-digit multiplication skills in math class. To see some of the different strategies we use, check out our post with tutorials.

To continue practicing in a fun way, we played a game that involves paper footballs, 10-sided dice, and multiplication. (Mr. Salsich made the game up, and it doesn't have a name yet, but it needs one... If you can think of a good name for it, leave your suggestion in a comment.)

Student Tutorials for Multi-Digit Multiplication

We have been sharpening our multi-digit multiplication skills! In class we made posters to share the different strategies we use to solve these larger multiplication problems. At the end of this post is a slide show with some of our posters.

But first, here are a few video tutorials showing a few of the main strategies. These were made by the students using the Explain Everything app on our iPads. The students did a fantastic job being our first to use the app. They learned a lot, and they will be able to help the rest of the class make even better tutorials as we get more familiar with the app.

Below is a demonstration of the "Box" strategy by Lily:
